A steep one was participation in a music ensemble (appropriately called Nevis Ensemble) performing \u201c500 Miles\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
My grandfather clock, fed up with lockdown, wanted to join in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The downstairs technology comprised my smart phone and my ancient iPad. (\u201cAncient\u201d in the digital sense:\u00a0 old enough for primary school if it were human and if there were any schools open).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I rigged up a dangerously unstable infrastructure of phone on top of pile of books on top of book stand on top of tripod on top of coffee table. All held together with elastic bands. The plan was to trust the iPad with the simple task of accessing the backing track and leave the skilled job of filming to the phone.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However the iPad baulked at the cookies (and therefore the backing track) no matter how often I clicked \u201cAccept\u201d.\u00a0 So it was over to the phone for the backing track and the iPad for the filming.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The clock\u2019s part was to chime 9 to \u201cwaken me up\u201d at the start. It performed this beautifully. Unfortunately the iPad wouldn\u2019t recognise my Facebook password and told me there wasn\u2019t enough space for the 4 minute video (but irrationally refused to let me come in to clear space). And sprang off the tripod.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
10 o\u2019clock flew past. So the clock, the phone, the iPad and I had to wait till the 11 o\u2019clock chimes for the final take. (I don\u2019t mess about with the clock\u2019s chime and hands.\u00a0 It\u2019s even more ancient than the iPad also peevish).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\u00a0 iPad had the last laugh when it refused to send the video. Didn\u2019t recognise my Google password.\u00a0 Anyway the video was too long.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So I answered security questions, proved my identity, reset my password on all devices and bisected the video. The iPad ran out of excuses and birled it into cyberspace \u2013 for good or ill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A few weeks later those with keen eyes got a nanosecond of me (bathed in a weird golden glow) singing amongst 160 others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
